In 1948 the Australian Army Medical Corps became the Royal Australian Army Medical Corps (RAAMC). The RAAMC provides medical care to Army personal. In addition the RAAMC also trains the Army's pathology technicians, preventative medicine personnel, physical training instructors and operating theatre technicians. RAAMC works in both operational and non-operational conditions sometimes alongside civilian medical practitioners.
