The unique legacy of Balearic prehistory to posterity is its megalithic monuments. The
ruins of the remarkable stone structures known as talayots, navetas, and taulas are to
be found in profusion all over the Islands, (and they feature in many of the photographs
in this book). The author himself initiated the restoration of the impressive naveta at
Els Tudons, which is the earliest building on Spanish soil standing above ground in a
good state of preservation.
