As the first Spitfire variant to see extensive service out of Britain, the Mark V fought the Axis alliance over the deserts of North Africa and the waters of the Mediterranean. Later it was replace by Mk VIIs, VIIIs, IXs, XIIs and XIVs flown by pilots from all over the world.
