The author purported to have flown many WWII RAF fighter types as well as having served on the RAFs Merchant Ship Fighter Unit escorting Convoys to Russia. This account was published by Kimber just prior to their demise, but was withdrawn immediately after publication due to doubt being cast on the author’s true RAF career and the authenticity of his account.
