Axis and Allies is a strategic level game of World War II. It begins with the Russian offensive against the German-occupied Ukraine. The game ends when one side achieves either a military or economic victory.
The game can be played by up to five people. Each player controls one or more of the following countries: The Soviet Union, Germany (and Italy), Great Britain (and the empire), Japan and the United States of America. The two sides are the Axis (Germany and Japan) and the Allies (the Soviet Union, Great Britain and the United States of America).
The game mechanics include air, land and sea combat units, weapons development, including rockets and atomic bombs, and the provision for special forces including Panzerkorps, British Home Guard, Kamikazes and Marines.
NOVA sold the publishing rights for the game to Milton Bradley in 1981. A bit less than 1500 component sets were sold to JEDko by NOVA and JEDko put them into their own box and sold them in Australia / NZ.
