While the War of the Spanish Succession is perhaps best remembered for the epic campaigns in the Low Countries and the Danube, reflected in this book by accounts of Blenheim, Ramillies, Oudenarde and Malplaquet. However, it was also waged in Northern Italy and the Iberian Peninsular. The successes Eugene of Savoy in Italy and the failure of the British in Spain are covered here. More than 40 colour illustrations show the uniforms of the armies of the Italian States, Spain and Portugal as well as additional information, not in Volume One, on those of Britain, France and Prussia. The book also provides unit organisation, strengths and composition of the forces that were engaged in the War.
By the author - "In this the second volume of "The Armies and Uniforms of Marlbourgh's Wars" I have the opportunity to include a number of things that were not possible in the first volume. First of all I have been able to use many more pictures to illustrate the uniforms. Secondly I have included accounts not only of some of the battles in Spain and Italy but also those of Marlborough omitted from the first volume. Finally I have included some extra coloured artwork by Bob Marrion on the British, French and Prussian armies, which I hope will fill some gaps."
