The 88mm gun was a powerful piece of ordnance used in an antiaircraft and antitank role by the Germans from 1939 to 1945. Used in all theatres of war from Russia to the desert was feared by the allied armies due its devastating ability to knock out allied armour and bombers at long range.
It was a heavy piece of equipment and so needed a heavy-duty vehicle to move it. The Sd.Kfz.7 developed in 1934 was built in great numbers through to 1945, It could carry a crew of 11 plus the driver.
